05.07.1989 Gorbachev in Paris. "Democracy affects us all nowadays." 
06.07.1989 Gorbachev's speech to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, propagating the "Common European Home." He rules out "the probability of an armed clash and the very possibility of the use or threat of force, above all military force by an alliance against another alliance ..." "freedom of choice - no military or economic force" 
07-08.07.1989 WTO Gorbachev declares the Brezhnev Doctrine as abolished at the Eastern Bloc summit meeting in Bucharest. He emphasises the "independent solultion of national problems".
24.07.1989 DDR Markus Meckel and Martin Gutzeit author a "Call for the creation of an action group with the aim of brining into existence a social-democratic party in the DDR".
