06.1989 Gorbachev in West Berlin, viewing the Wall: "Nothing is eternal."
04.06.1989 P Elections in Poland leave Solidarno¶ć with 35% of the seats in the Sejm, winning all they were allowed to contest, and 99 of the 100 freely contested seats in the Senate. Turnout is low at 62%, below that for a referendum on economic reform in 1987. 
13.06.1989 H Opening session of the Party-opposition talks in Hungary, with the Opposition Round Table, Party, quangos and President of Parliament Mátyás Szűrös occupying the four sides. Opening for the opposition, lawyer Imre Konya: "We must now carry out peacefully the task of three unfulfilled Hungarian revolutions."
16.06.1989 H Nagy and four associates and a further coffin symbolising the Unknown Insurgent are buried with full honours after a ceremony on Heroes' Square. 
18.06.1989 P Second round run-offs in the Sejm elections in Poland. 
27.06.1989 DDR Honecker visits Moscow. Gorbachev presses for reforms in the DDR.
06.1989 DDR "Demokratischer Aufbruch" is founded.
