Mr Ben's Baked Potatoes
Outside NatWest
Colmore Row and Bennet's Hill

Mr Ben and his nephew are lifesavers
for the busy young professional. Many times I left my desk at lunchtime
(shock horror) to nip up Newhall Street Hill for a Chainsaw Massacre.
This is how we christened Mr Ben's stock-in-trade, the chilli and
cheese large baked potato, with oodles of butter and pepper, for £1.80.
There is but one problem with the variety of Mr Ben's fillings:
they are all devellishly moreish. Beware!
A closing word of advice - get there
early. Should you have the misfortune to arrive after 12:15 you
will have to join a lengthening queue in the wind tunnel of Newhall
Street. |

Home of the egg and anything. Cheap,
cheerful, filling, say no more! |

Best Thai and Chinese takeaway in
the city, on Harborne High Street. I particularly recommend the Thai
Green Chicken Curry (£4.50), the best Crispy Shredded Beef
in Fruity Sauce and Chilli (£4.30) that I have had from any
takeaway or full-service restaurant in the UK. Also try Pad Panang
Curry Chicken with Thai herbs (£4.50). Visit the Vine upub
opposite while U wait. |
