Whitwick Manor
is a shrine to the Arts and Crafts movement, with the original manor
house extended tastefully by the inhabitants who were a local industrial
dynasty. The decor, paintings and furniture are unique and have been
used as BBC drama settings.
The house has limited opening hours,
so check with the National Trust before visiting. Accessible by
bus.

| Ironbridge |
 |
Birthplace of all industry, the home
of the industrial evolution, Ironbridge is where the first smelters
were built due tot he abundant local supply of iron ore and coal seams
which were tunnelled out of the steep banks of the river. And the centrepiece
is of course the first iron bridge in the world, built by local boy
Thomas Telford. |
